68 sleeps before the night before the race! So lets clear up some of those niggling questions.
When, Where?
April 20th 2012, Rego from 08:30-09:30 race briefing 10:00 RACE START 10:05
Eumeralla Scout Camp, Great Ocean Road , Anglesea Vic.
How Far?
The exact track is yet to be finalised but for most age groups the race will be around 25km. Some of our more senior competitors might get a lap reprieve and race 18 or 19 km.
How Hard?
No technical sections, no drop offs, no jumps and no obstacles that you can’t see before you get to them! In other words you can always see what’s coming up and if you don’t like it GET OFF AND WALK! What we will be giving you lots of is flowing single track through the grass trees, sweeping switch backs past the army man course, driving descents past the picturesque outdoor chapel and aerobic ascending the rest of the time.
What Bike?
The course is rideable on any serviceable mountain bike. Working front suspension is recommended but not essential. 1.95 or larger tyres are recommended, but you will make it around on commuter tyres (just). If you are fearless go gearless but if you rock up on your fixie I will chain you to the BBQ. Every competitor must have two working brakes on their bike, it will be up to the discretion of each competitor wether to use them. If you have a European sounding name you may compete on a cyclo-cross bike and if you have tattoos and drink energy drinks you may compete on a BMX. Each competitor must wear an Australian approved helmet
How far a drive is Anglesea?
On the off chance that the Governor of Victoria The Honorable Alex Chernov wishes to compete it will take him 90 minutes to drive from Government House.
I Like Coffee
Although that’s not specifically a question, so do we! We will have a coffee cart at race rego to cater to your addictions, coffee cake, muffins and tea will all available for purchase. Tasty beer and cheep Champaign will be available afterwards, as well as BBQ food for purchase.
How Will I Find the Race Track?
Follow the massive signs! Event signage will be posted early the morning of the race along the Great Ocean Road . If you want to practise, the course it will be marked by 1530 hours 19th April.
